NEWS LETTER – SPRING 2013

May 15, 2013

Hello Fellow Rock Creek Residents.

Now that spring has sprung it seems a good time for us to check in to let you know some of the things that The Friends of Rock Creek (FORC) have been working on.

Although we have been quiet for some time we are definitely still here with our primary mission to protect the livability that we have all come to enjoy in our neighborhood.

With the housing market improving, we want to remain alert for any renewed efforts to remove the open space designation from the Rock Creek Country Club which would be the first step in attempting to develop the property. That is the issue that caused us to organize in opposition in the summer of 2008. We are in contact with the various departments in Washington County government that would be involved in any effort to remove the open space designation and will “sound the alarm” should there be any activity in that area.

We have been monitoring a proposal by the City of Hillsboro Department of Transportation to build two overpasses from Evergreen Parkway over Highway 26 to dump traffic directly onto Rock Creek Blvd. in two places. This seems to be a long range proposal that is not included in the current transportation plan, however that could be accelerated in their efforts to de-load Evergreen Parkway and the onramp from North bound 185th to East bound Hwy 26.

We also are listening for any talk regarding the annexation of Rock Creek into either Hillsboro or Beaverton. We are concerned as to how that could impact property taxes, public safety, and other livability issues for our Rock Creek neighborhood.

You are receiving this update because at one time you provided us with your contact information so that we can keep you informed. If any of that has changed please let us know, including if you no longer wish to be contacted. We also urge you to inform your neighbors and friends about us. We know that many homes have changed ownership and not everyone is familiar with FORC.

We encourage you to peruse our website at: www.FriendsofRockCreek.com . It shows the history of our activities, a list of our board of directors, and other information that might be of interest.

Sincerely,

The Friends of Rock Creek

Contributors Page – May 2009

Check out our “Contributors” page where we recognize many of the people that have contributed to Friends of Rock Creek. Without the help of generous community members like these, we would be unable to continue our fight to save the open space.

We won’t post your name without your permission, and only 65% of contributors are listed. If you are not on this list and would like to be, please contact Leroy Bentley and let him know. If you are on the list and would like to be removed, Leroy can handle that as well.
